GENERAL INFORMATION

 

Guam along with the Mariana Islands were the first islands colonized by man in the so-called Remote Oceania It is the furthest US territory from America and the closest to the Korean peninsula Guam is the largest island in the archipelago.

The culture of Guam or Guajan today is that of a cosmopolitan community with a culture whose roots are nourished by the contribution of the ancient Chamorro people, and which has been greatly influenced by the Spanish civilization. The traditional Chamorro culture is manifested in dance, maritime navigation skills, gastronomy, fishing, games (such as batu, chonka, estuleks, and bayogu), songs and clothing influenced by the immigration process.

Economy

Guam's economy depends primarily on tourism, Department of Defense installations and locally owned businesses.
